Man and His Symbols was written deliberately for general readers and is heavily illustrated, which makes it the usual recommendation for a first encounter with Jung's ideas. Memories, Dreams, Reflections is autobiographical and personal, and it lands better once you already know the concepts. Read Man and His Symbols first; read Memories second, when the ideas have somewhere to attach.
