About the Shadow Work Oracle

The Shadow Work Oracle is a free digital tool designed to support your journey of self-discovery and psychological integration. Based on Jungian psychology and the concept of the shadow self, each card represents an archetype that may be seeking your attention and integration.

How to Use the Oracle

Before drawing a card, take a moment to center yourself. Breathe deeply and set an intention for your reading. You might ask: "What shadow aspect needs my attention today?" or "What unconscious pattern is affecting my current situation?" The card you draw is not predictive—it's reflective. It mirrors back aspects of your psyche that are ready for conscious exploration.

Understanding Shadow Archetypes

Carl Jung identified the shadow as the unconscious part of personality containing repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, and instincts. Shadow archetypes are universal patterns that represent different aspects of our hidden selves. Common archetypes include The Pleaser (who abandons authentic needs for approval), The Saboteur (who undermines success), and The Vampire (who drains energy from others or allows their energy to be drained).

Single Card vs. Three Card Spread

Single Card: Perfect for daily reflection or when you need focused guidance on one specific aspect. The single card offers deep insight into the primary shadow energy present in your current situation.

Three Card Spread: Provides a more comprehensive reading. The first card represents the past (shadow patterns formed), the second reveals the present (current shadow dynamics), and the third suggests the future (potential for integration and growth).

Journaling Your Insights

After drawing your card, use the built-in journal feature to record your reflections. Writing helps integrate insights from the unconscious into conscious awareness. Ask yourself: How does this archetype show up in my life? When did I first develop this pattern? What would integration look like? Your journal entries are stored locally in your browser for privacy.

The Shadow Work Oracle is for self-reflection and personal growth purposes. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you're experiencing significant psychological distress, please consult a qualified therapist.
